Week 11 - Final Performance
In this week’s blog I will be talking about our final performance of our group choreography on the topic of Conformity.
Our piece was about Conformity and I feel as a group our choreography, use of formations and choreographic devices really enabled to get this message across to the audience, especially with the use of improvisation at the end to show how it is okay to be yourself and individual.
I feel as a group, we all worked really well together and individually had our own say and ideas that were incorporated in the piece as well as putting in extra hours to work on different motifs, formations and ensuring we were all in time with the music and each other when we were supposed to be.
When creating our piece, I feel like the choreographic processes of the translation task and the chance method really helped us generate a lot of movement and ideas, these are something I will be using in future choreographic work and experiences.
If I was to do this group choreography piece again, I think I would consider having a variety of different sections instead of three big sections which were: the idea of conformity, breaking away from conformity and the breaking into our individuality. As I feel if we had more sections, we would be able to have a wider range of movements as well as more of a storyline to the piece.
Overall, I’m really happy with how our performance went and I feel when we were performing, we really portrayed the contrast between conforming and being individual with the use of our timing, dynamics and performance quality.
